On my recent Instagram scrolling spree, I discovered the picture below by fellow Canadian @lvoeislv of the Oblique print or monogram edition of Dior’s Forever Couture Perfect Cushion, and I have been obsessed!
I am a 30 year old, and a makeup lover, which means I have had enough time to explore and test out a lot of makeup and skincare and along with that build a huge collection of makeup. There are rarely any products that excite me anymore but this Dior Compact is definitely an exception and yes its mainly because of the packaging.
No Luxury lover is stranger to Dior’s iconic Oblique canvas, a signature print from the designer house Christian Dior. It was originally designed in 1967 by the house’s artistic director of the time, Marc Bohan. The iconic print has become synonymous with Dior’s monogram and has been used by the house frequently in multiple collections. Dior’s current artistic directer Maria Grazia Chiuri gave it a new spin in March for the Fall/winter 2018 show with slightly zoomed out look to the original print. She has generously used the print for various accessories and also took inspiration from the archives by brining back the iconic saddle bag. The Dior book tote instantly became the new travel IT bag. Even thought the tote comes in a variety of prints, the monogram oblique remains the most coveted. The heritage of this iconic print makes this release of the Oblique Cushion that much more sought after!
As per the Dior website its a “Limited edition 24h wear high perfection skin-caring fresh cushion foundation – 24h* watery hydration** spf 35 – pa+++” “
Available only in Europe and Asia, the product was released in January 2020 and is priced at USD $65. It’s a hydrating formula and includes SPF which makes it perfect for daily wear. Luxury makeup usually have a very limited shade range, and this one unfortunately is no exception with only 4 shade range offering. Although since its a cushion foundation with light to medium buildable coverage I think most people should be able to make it work for their skin tone, unless they are very light or very dark skinned.
One thing I absolutely love is that the cushion foundation is refillable! Any efforts to reduce our environmental footprint and highly admirable in my opinion. It’s even more encouraging in cases of luxury products like this one since a lot of people would like to keep it for aesthetic appeal even after they have used up the product and in that case, you can just get rid of the product and keep the packaging.
I have no idea where to get it or if this was ever available in India, and I can’t check until the Covid-19 lockdown is over but I will try my best top get my hands of this beauty.
